Under the MDM for for 2021 to get credit for the Independent Interpretation of tests
My doctor wanted to know does he actually have to "read" the x-ray film to qualify for this or can he make his
written assessment from the radiology report?
 
To get credit he has to actually view the images and briefly describe his interpretation in the note. It must be clear that he made an independent interpretation. Also keep in mind if the xray was performed in the physician's office he cannot credit it towards the E/M because he is being separately reimbursed for that service. Hope this helps.
