Hello, I work for an Oral Surgery department. My provider frequently performs 21243 (Arthroplasty, temporomandibular joint, with prosthetic joint replacement), however for this case he also performed a bilateral coronoidectomy (21070). The AAPC article states there is no edit bundle when billing these codes together but we have received denials stating the codes are inclusive. My thoughts were since the 21070 states (separate procedure) in the description that it must be performed on its own or a separate side from the main procedure. Anyone have insight as to whether it is compliant to bill both codes in this scenario?
