Does a surgery done on a morbidly obese person qualifiy for a 22 modifier? Dictation states that it takes extra time because of the size of the patient. Can someone help me?

An obese patient doesn't always warrant modifier 22. There must be documentation explaining the excessive difficulty, complications, and/or increased time. Documentation is essential...carriers are really looking for the "out of norm" scenario's.
