Posoperative Diagnosis : left index finger retained foreign body and decreased range of motion, PIP
Description of procedure: Attention was turned to the volar aspect of the wrist where the traumatic incision was reopened. Subcutaneous tissues were carfeully divided. A partial lacteration of the cruciate pulley overlying the PIP joint wass noted. In this area a black appearing foreign body measuring 1mm x 3mm was identified and removed. Radiographically, the appearance of the small abnormality was still noted with flexions of the left index finger into a composite fist. It was confirmed that this was a volar plate avulsion fracture. This area was then thoroughly irrigated.
Thank you,
