I'm billing for pin removal from a thumb my doctor also placed the pins in the patients finger. The patient came to the office (during the global period) and my doc removed the pins? Is the removal of pins inclusive to the placement of the pins during the post-op period? I'm reading some of the forums and i'm getting quite a few different answers, some say you can bill the removal in the office if it's a superficial approach others say no because it's inclusive unless he wasn't the doc who placed the pins and another thread says if the patient had to come back to the or to have them removed i can bill 20680 with a 58 or 78 modifier.

Any thoughts would be great.

20670 is included during global period there should be no charge since done in office and still under global charge. Kathy:)
