One of our doctors did a bipolar replacement with a subcapital fx as the diagnosis. What's the difference between 27236 & 27125, they sound the same to me. Is one suppose to be planned?

Code 27236 when there is a fracture, as stated in the definition. Use 27125 when the bipolar/hemi is done for other reasons, such as osteoarthritis or maybe non-union of an old fracture.

Thank you, that's exactly how I always bill it. Just so happens a coworker of mine made me second guess myself. I though maybe she knew something I didn't... guess not.

Vs ?

Exactly was does the "versus" mean? And where can I find this.

Example: Primary progessive aphasia versus frontaltemporal dementia.

Which would you code and why or could you code either? This is for a PET/CT. 78608.

Thank,
MLM
