My doctor assisted on 27420 (Reconstruction of dislocating patella) which was done for a medial patellofemoral rupture/medial capsule retinacular tear and he also assisted on 27405 (Repair, primary, torn ligament and/or capsule, knee; collateral) for repair of the medial collateral ligament tear. Can I bill these two together? I don't see where they deny off each other in CCI edits or the AAOS guidelines. However when I spoke with another coder she told me I should only bill 27405.
