I work for an ASC and we out source our coding. Our Coding company coded a 27620 - Arthrotomy, ankle, with joint exploration, with or without biopsy, with or without removal of loose or foreign body; & 20680 - Removal of implant; deep (eg buried wire, pin, screw, metal band, nail, rod or plate). Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the removal of implant be bundled w/ 27620 and be considered removal of foreign body? or would I need to append modifier -59?
