Hello,

I am hoping someone with orthopedic foot coding experience might be able to guide me. I have a provider that wants to use CPT code 27691 for tendon transfer of 2nd toe (FDL to extensor tendon) but isn't CPT 27691 for leg and ankle? The doctor is going through the foot, plantarly. She is also doing a hammertoe correction and capsulotomy on the same toe.

DX: long second metatarsal w/ crossover toe and hammertoe deformity

Will someone please HELP!!!!

Hi,

I think you will code it as 28285/28270. 28285 covers the hammartoe correction along with tendon transfer and 28270 will cover the capsulotomy part.Hope it helps...
