With the new code description for shoulder debridement listing each tissue of the shoulder joint, does labrum debridement gets counted as one structure even if the surgeon debrided multiple areas of labrum (anterior, posterior, superior)? Previous coding guideline says if surgeon debrided the anterior and posterior glenohumeral joint, this can be coded with 29823 as extensive debridement. Would this still apply and count the anterior and posterior labrum as separate areas/structure of glenohumeral joint?

As I understand it, the labrum would be one anatomical structure so you would not be able to report 29823 debriding anterior to posterior as we have in the past. But also be careful that you are not counting labral debridement that is included with a restorative procedure as well.
