With the 2012 changes where 20926 can only be billed as an add on code to certain codes, what if a open claviculectomy is done with a arthroscopic subacromial decompression. Can you bill 23120 and unlisted 29999 for the arthroscopic subacromial decompression? I've been reading some other posts that say if arthroscopic subacromial decompression is done alone you can code 29999, but not sure what happens with an open shoulder code.

The best you can do is add 29822-29823 Debridement series if there is any documented. Using a 29999 for a decompression with an open shoulder procedure would be inappropriate.
