Does anyone know if code 33210 can be billed with an anesthesia claim?

Our physician is wanting to bill for this procedure but we were told that the cardiologist is the one that would bill for it.

Any help is truly appreciated.

Hi,

I've been told by a former CRNA that when anesthesia performs MAC for ablation/pacemakers, anesthesia helps with checking the rhythms/ drugs as part of the procedure, but only the anesthesia coverage is billed.

If your surgeon was insistant on billing for the procedure he first needs to be credentialed as that type of surgeon. Second, he should contact the cardiologist and discuss billing as co-surgeon, with mod 62, or as an assistant. If they both agree, depending, he might need to complete his own operative report.

Hopefully that helps,

Thank you.

ok, so this procedure can only be billed by the cardiologist and not the anesthesiologist? That's what we have been told but wanted to ask on here to see if anyone had a different answer.

Thank you again!
