Help! I bill for a doctor who has used 337.1 in the past and now is seeing denials for this code. I checked the Medicare website and am only more confused. Does anyone know what dx can be used in place of 337.1? Thank you1

337.1 is a secondary only dx code look in your ICD-9 book for the valid first listed code. You can NEVER substitute a diagnosis code for another, you may code only what the provider documents. In this case the provider must document the underlying condition s well.
