Hello Everyone,

I have a questions about a report for the 36245. They selectively did a angiography of the right and left lower extremity by placing the catheter into the right and left common iliac artery. How should this be billed ? 36245 RT and 36245 LT ?

Thanks,

Kayla

Where was the access? If access was in the right femoral, you cannot code 36245-RT as it is part of the procedure. If from the arm, then yes code for both.

The first access was the right brachial artery. Ok so I can code both 36245 RT and 36245 LT . Do you know where I can find this information or what resource you are using ? I am looking for more resources for these vascular procedures.
Thanks,

Kayla

Z Health Publishing and CPT. Since the catheter went from aorta and selected each iliac artery, you can code 36245 for each artery, unless an intervention is performed in in that artery. Then it is bundled into the intervention.
