Hello, I have a question regarding coding of 37252-37253. Note states "Following this an IVUS catheter wwas placed under fluoro guidance to the level of the infra-renal vena cava and measurements were take at this level and below" The levels indicated in the report are Infra-renal Vena cava, Proximal Common Iliac Vein, Mid. Common Iliac Vein, Dist Common Iliac Vein, Prox External Iliac Vein, Mid External Iliac Vein and Dis. External Iliac Vein
37252 would be the Infra-renal Vena Cava? And then for 37253 is Common Iliac and External Iliac considered one unit or 2? Thank you for your help
 
You code per vessel, so IVC gets the 37252, and the Iliacs get 37253. Add Modifier -50 if its bilateral.
