Can someone point me in the direction of a code I could use to bill for an injection in the 3rd occipital nerve? This is done in office with no guidance.

Hello, I have the same question. We have been billing 3rd Occipital as 64490 or 64633 with DxM53.81 per Encoder & CMS guidelines. Recently received a call about the medical director reviewing these and stated there was a different CPT for this? When I pull up in Encoder as of today, this is revised and going into effect as of 4/25/2021, with no mention as to what to do with these Occipital headache injections.
Now, it makes sense that the 64490 & 64633 were appropriate as this level is innervating the facet joint. I am afraid that going back to the 64450 Other PNB would be inappropriate
