I am having a discussion with one of my docs regarding stent placement. she is doing ureteral stent placement. I tried to explain that according to cpt, 52282 is for urethral stent placement; 52332 is for ureteral stent placement and can be bilateral. Can anyone help me explain this? These stents will not be permanent; they are removed within a couple of days. Does anyone know how permanent 'permanent' or 'indwelling' is according to cpt? Any feedback will be appreciated.
thanks in advance.
