Good morning,
The Orthopedic practice I work for uses a second (vascular) co-surgeon, for surgeries which use 22857 and 22860. Per my understanding, I need to use the 62 modifier for the main code (22857) and for any add on codes, which 22860 is.
ie: 22857-62, 22860-62
This is per the AAPC article (https://www.aapc.com/codes/coding-n...S03vlZVUnTZ93NMVLEHaKlOd71eicS1FpMNgHhSTmlmoX)
The co-surgeon is from a different practice. The billing company for the co-surgeon is stating they only code the 62 on the first level (22857) which is leading to my surgeon being underpaid by insurance. We have sent them the relevant documentation from the AAPC which states both levels should have the modifier 62 on it but they are saying no.
Am I correct or have I missed something and have been coding this incorrectly?
Thank you,
