Is there a rule that you are required to send a specimen to the pathology when bill a 63267-Laminectomy for excision or evacuation of intraspinal lesion other than neoplasm, extradural; lumbar-?

I dont think there is a written rule, i asked my Surgeon and he told me if he knows that it is a benign cyst/lesion then there is no medical need to send to path. Its the MD's Discretion. Hope this helps.
