Wiki 63600

Stereotaxy is a three-dimensional surgical technique to direct a needle or beam of radiation for targeting lesion location.

CPT 63600 : Creation of lesion of spinal cord by stereotactic
method, percutaneous, any modality (including stimulation and/or recording)

This can be billed with maximum of 2 units on same DOS, exceeding 2 unit result in denial, But this can be appealed if you have documentation supporting medical necessity.

When the patient is appropriately prepped and anesthetized, the provider identifies the target area of the spinal cord using the stereotactic method, in which previously taken CT or MRI images are imported into a computer system that provides three dimensional images of the spinal cord. The goal of this procedure is to create a lesion on the pain pathways of the spinal cord to treat chronic pain. The provider then makes a small incision through the skin and passes a hollow needle electrode to the target area. He then creates the lesion on targeted areas of the spinal cord. He may perform stimulation or recording as part of the service. He then withdraws the electrode and closes the skin incision.
