Z47.89 Encounter for other orthopedic aftercare
Z48.02 Encounter for removal of sutures
M23.204 Derangement of unspecified medial meniscus due to old tear or injury, left knee
The comment in the office is, we do not need to use Z48.02 because they are in their 90 days and it is expected to remove the sutures in this time period.
however it states in the guidelines:
Aftercare codes should be used in conjunction with other aftercare codes or diagnosis codes to provide better detail on the specifics of an aftercare encounter visit, unless otherwise directed by the classification.
