Hi,

Scenario: Patient has pain in both hands, a x-ray on hands is completed. There only 3 images - both hands are in each view.

How should this be coded:

73130 RT,LT

or

73130 RT
73130 LT

Thanks for any input!

From my understanding of your question... If 3 views were done on each hand...

I would code 73130,50 or 73130,LT 73130,RT depending on the insurance carrier.

Thanks for the input.

To clarify - There was not 3 view of 'each' hand. There was 3 views and each view had BOTH hands. Therefore was a total of 3 view produced not 6 views.

Since there are only 3 views, should I still bill 73130 RT and 73130 LT? I feel like if I do then I am indicating that 6 view were produced?

The 73130 cannot be billed with 50 modifier

:) Thanks!!
