Which of the following two diagnoses is appropriate: 733.09 (osteoporis, other) or 733.90 (disorder of bone and cartilage unspecified) when a patient has osteopenia as a result of tx for breast cancer? Or are neither of these appropriate? Thank you.

is it due to bone metastisis or due to the cancer treatment? If it is due to the treatment of breast cancer then you code it as an adverse effect of the drug so use the 733.90 with the E code for the adverse effect and the breast cancer code.
