If the PA is performing the central line placement, can the 77001 be billed under his name?

It can't be billed at all unless a radiologist supervises the fluoro if they are not licensed to perform fluoroscopy. if the radiologist supervises the fluoro, that would be billed under their name. That is up to your state.

Short answer, it's up to your state and supervision level.

We commonly bill 77001 and 76937 under the PA and almost all payers reimburse. I believe Aetna is our only hold out and we have to write those off due to their policy.
