Is this code always billed with 88302 and what are the provider type for 88302, 88305. When should a pathologist bill for these type of service?
 
Since 88313 is defined as an add-on code, it always needs to be billed along with it's primary pathology procedure: 17311-17315 - 85097-85097 - 87177-87177 - 88104-88112 - 88140-88140 - 88160-88162 - 88173-88173 - 88302-88309 - 88321-88321 - 88323-88325 - 89050-89050.
 
88313 is a Group II stain. It's not always billed with 88302, only when the pathologist stains the specimen and examines the results. I think this would be unlikely on an 88302-level specimen. You bill once for each individual reagant (not twice for two iron stains on the same specimen though, for example).
