I am still trying to get my ED coding feet back under me. Today, I was told that the IV Push 90774 that I coded in the ED for a Medicare patient. Was going to be put as a sequential IV push 90775 and the IV Piggy Back 90765 that was done in Observation 9 hours later was going to be the initial.
To give some back ground the patient came to the ED at 1030 at night then was made an Observation patient for two days then was made inpatient for two days then discharged. And that I should have not coded for the IVPush because the patient was an observation patient. Can someone give me some guidance for ED coding.
