Hello all! I'm new to billing for Behavior Health/Mental Health services. I do have coding experience for regular E/M services, just not BH/MH. We have a Psychiatrist, Psychologist and LCSW in our office. We are having issues billing out a 90791 with prolonged services for our psychiatrist. We are billing 90791 and 99354 together. Our claim scrubber isn't allowing the claim to go out the door to the payer. When the claim is holding it is telling us the the prolonged service code, the 99354, can only be billed with a Psychotherapy codes of 90833-90838, etc. My question is, are we even allowed to bill prolonged services with a psychiatric evaluation? Any an all help would be greatly appreciated.
