I know that code 90791 (initial evaluation by a non-physicain) is not a timed code, but I am wondering what your opionion is on a 16 minute 90791. Do you think it is possible to justify an evaluation completed in 16 minutes? Curious to see what your opinion on this is

Good question! CPT does not really give any specifics except "integrated biopsychosocial assessment, including history, mental status and recommendations." If the documentation supports each one of these, why not? (I can see where it could be possible, especially if it is a patient w/o a long, complicated history, w/ pretty straightforward dx and treatment options).

As always, just my opinion! It might be interesting to have an opinion from another clinician/provider....
