I was curious if someone had a good resource on how often a 90792 can be charged. I have in my notes that in Medicare specific you can bill up to 3 evaluations a year. Have some rules been updated? Thank you

CPT 90792 Psych diagnostic exam with meds. I learned years ago if the dx changes you can use 90792 it again. However if the patient has same problem of dx F32 or F43, Etc. of psych problems cannot use more than once a year. So let us say the patient routinely checked for F32 Depression but now new psych problems of F20 Paranoia or F64 Transgender then psych doc can use the 90792. In your state does this have to be pre approved if state funded for behavioral health?
