We are a optometry and ophthalmology clinic. Eye care has 2 separate codes to choose from 92 or 99. We have used 92 codes for medical diagnosis and the chart supports it. For the first time Medicaid is wanting money back because it is a 92 code used more than once in a year. Is there any new rules for this?
 
Hi- Most medicaid plans accept more than 1 92XXX code during a benefit period just not 2 routine. On the 92 medical exam the medical dx has to be listed first. I would call the Medicaid plan and inquire. Medical DX over looked or missing possibly so it was processed as preventative.
