Our physician is wanting to count the tuning fork on her E/M's. However, can the tuning fork be deferred to the audiologist in our office to complete or does she actually have to do the tuning fork herself to get credit?
Thank you,
Beverly

Using the 1997 ENT exam the doctor must be the one to assess the hearing with a tuning fork to count that bullet. The exception to a physician performing the exam elements is the measurement of vital signs; the notes state it may be measured and recorded by ancillary staff.
