Looking for some clarification:
Previously, in billing for injections. If different injections, different sites, I would use the -59 modifier to differentiate. So, now I am a little confused on to keep using the -59 or use the -XS modifier.

One Example-would be a patient comes in for a Xolair injection-given in 3 different injections--

RUA/SQ
LUA/SQ
LLA/SQ

Previously I would bill the administrations as:
96372 -LT
96372 -59,LT
96372 -59,RT

Any suggestions would be appreciated,
Thank you,
Jennifer Stauffer, CPC

Hi,

I hope there is no need to differentiate with modifier 59 for 96372 because of only one code is available to code for any subcutaneous injection.

I have trained to code the suq injection with units, if three injection code code with 96372 X 3

Wait for other responses.

I too am looking for clarification on this - all responses appreciated.:)
