Question regarding 96374. We have a claim where 2 initial IV Pushes were administered on the same dos and same encounter. At time of charging, they applied the XS modifier to the second charge, since we have different sites. The MUE for 96374 is 1 per dos. The patient received 4 IV pushes:
Morphine, IV Push, 2 mg @ 17:48, Chest, anterior right
Morphine, IV Push, 2 mg @18:38, Hand, left
Morphine, IV Push, 4 mg @ 19:36, Wrist, left
Ondansetron, IV Push, 4 mg @ 17:48, Chest, anterior right
It is my understanding that this should be reported with:
96374
96375
96376x2
Our I&I team charged it like below and with their logic, I'm thinking they're justifying the 2 initials for RT side and LT side of morphine. They missed the IV Push of a new drug altogether.
96374x2 with XS modifier on second
96376x2
Any feedback greatly appreciated!!
