Qualify for a 99211? Written by a nurse in outpaitent setting. We drew the labs and charged for them.

DOS 8/24/11
"Met w/pt in lobby in regards to her CBC results today. HGB 7.9 today, will plan on setting up for blood at _____hospital on 8/25/2011. Please note CBC results reviewed with Dr. Smith and orders signed for transfusion at ____hospital. Pt given paperwork and sent to schuduling."

"Keep in mind that if another CPT code more accurately describes the service being provided, that code should be reported instead of 99211. For example, if a physician instructs a patient to come to the office to have blood drawn for routine labs, the nurse or lab technician should report CPT code 36415 (routine venipuncture) instead of 99211 since an E/M service was not required."

To answer your question, I don't believe that 99211 would be appropriate, in this situation. Hope that helps! ;)
