Question:

Do physicians have to be onsite for injections??? We coded 99211 but was dinged in a recent audit stating that b/c physician wasn't onsite the code was incorrect....can anyone offer any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

If you are a physician office then the Person whose NPI you use in field 24J must be be present while the patient is being seen. You are not to use a 99211 for an injection in the physician office setting you use the 96372.
