I'm curious as to whether I am supposed to report a 99239 discharge for a patient that passed away or do I just leave the admit 99223 AI then the 99232 for the previous day?

Thank you,
Teresa

You can bill the 99239 if there is a documented(with time) report available, as you would do with any discharge. Deceased patients need to be discharged so it is entirely appropriate to bill the encounter.
