Is it appropriate to bill a 99244 when doing a pre-op clearance exam?
thank You,
Susan G

preop

yes. don't forget to place the name of the physician and his/her NPI number in box 17, 17b who is requesting this preop exam......I always make sure I use the V72.83 diagnosis as one of my diagnoisis codes.

sure, but only if it documentation supports the level 4 consult - and it has to support the 3-R's of the consult as well...."Request, Render, Report" ...
{that's my opinion on the posted matter}
