Has anybody ever billed Ohio Medicaid, either via "traditional" Medicaid or a Medicaid managed care plan? If so, how are you billing it? Are you billing it as a separate claim line or as an add-on code? The reason I ask is that CPT does NOT list 99401 as an add-on but the Ohio Medicaid Behavioral Health manual DOES list it as an add-on service. The screenshot from the BH Medicaid manual is below. If need be, here is the link to the actual provider manual if you need to reference it again.
I am helping an associate determine if we would be able to bill it. But the various sources are somewhat confusing. We wish to bill 3rd party payors as well as Medicaid.
Could this be a case where Ohio Medicaid wants it billed as an add-on while 3rd party payors want it billed as a separate claim line code?
