Hello. A patient came in for a rating. So our doctor wants to bill 99455 for the rating but in the dictation it is noted that the patient does not qualify for any permanent or partial disability. The patient doesn't technically have a "rating" because the patient can return to work full-time and full duty without any restrictions. We will use this visit as his maximal medical improvement visit since he has reached this. Would we bill the 99455? He technically did all the work for a rating. Or just bill an office visit? Thanks!

In my opinion, 99455 would be correct. Even though the physician found that the pt did not qualify for disability, he/she still did the work to evaluate and make that decision.
