Our EP Specialist did an ablation-code 93650. After the procedure a pacemaker interrogation-code 93279 was done. CPT code 93279 was denied for being redundant. I do not see any bundling edits regarding these codes and will be appealing with documentation.

Has anyone had this denial before?
Should we be getting payment on both?

Thank you!

it depends on why the interrogation was performed...was it part of the ablation? was it done before and after the procedure so that the ablation could be performed without interference from the device (probably 93286)? need to find out why the interrogation was performed after the ablation

also, 93279 is not an interrogation...that is programming of a single chamber pacemaker

Per operative note the interrogation was done pre and post operative to check the function of the device. THe sensing and threshold is the same however the Impedence changed from pre to post procedure. That must be the programing part of it since the operative note just states interrogation.
