I just completed a webinar on the use of ABNs. I remember nothing during the talk (and there is nothing on the handouts) regarding the use of ABNs with Chiropractic care. One of the test questions indicated that an ABN was not necessary for chiropractic. Unfortunately, I did not have the presence of mind to screen-shot the questions and I can't pull them up anymore to make sure that I read it correctly. I looked through the CMS Processing Manual Chapter 30, section 50 and nothing is explicity mentioned there. Can someone please advise? Thank you so much.

I just went through an audit in our office (I bill for a chiropractor). You must have an ABN on file for the Medicare patient when billing for chiropractic unless it is maintenance care (remember to use the proper modifiers) . They will deny if not.
