My physician is trying to bill 36475-52 because the device was opened, even though the pt could not tolerate the local anesthesia and no sheath/cath was even attempted to be placed. I instructed to bill for an office visit, but they are insisting on the reduced modifier since they opened the device. Does anyone have any insight on this? Any documentation either way for it?
