3D (currently) serves as the basis of defining angiographic recon imaging (as recently suggested by the ACR). Can anyone give input as to other verbage that would be acceptable to justify coding angiography . . such as MIP - maximum intensity projection, shadow surface rendering, volume rendering. These are not 2D multi-planar images, yet the term, "3D" would not be used either. There is no clear CPT guidelines about this.

Thanks !

I've been told that MIPs and curved reformations can be 3D but it's best to check with your doctors to make sure that they mean 3D if they use those terms.
