I need help with a diagnosis. I have a patient who punched someone and broke her hand. The insurance is requiring an accident code. I have searched the book and can't seem to find the code I need. Any help would be much appreciated!
Since the assault codes specify "injuries inflicted by another person" is it appropriate to use for an injury that is the result of the patient assaulting someone else??
I was looking at Y04.0XXA, since our patient fractured his hand by punching someone in the face (brawl or fight), but I wonder if Y04.2XXA would be more appropriate, as the injury was caused by him striking another person?
