Good afternoon, Seeking feedback on ACEP E/M tool adoption (Cross-specialty use & CMS compliance).
Our team is currently evaluating the ACEP E/M tool (MDM table). I would love to get insights from other organizations on two specific points:
  • Is your organization currently using the ACEP E/M tool? If so, are you strictly utilizing it for the Emergency Department, or have you adapted it for other specialties?
  • For those using it, do you feel it aligns well with current CMS documentation guidelines? Have you encountered any specific compliance hurdles during audits?

We just started coding this specialty and we use ACEP tool. I personally read and re-read it twice and made lots of notes for myself to apply such rules to ED cases. I am sorry that i cannot answer your question. I just wanted to mentioned that AAPC has specifically designated Forum for Emergency Department where you can post this question and get more feedback. :)
