Can anyone tell me if add-on codes 93571 and 93572 can be billed as stand alone codes for extenuating circumstances. I have a doctor that performed a heart cath and the patient was at his dye limit so he was unable to perform the FFR's in that session, so he planned to go back at a later date and do just the FFR's. Which he did. Are there any rules regarding this?

Thank you

I've never come across this issue specific to 93571/72 however, I have billed add on codes by itself before. I had to send an appeal with a cover letter and it got paid. Worse case, send an appeal with medical notes and your explanation of too much dye in one session.
