Good morning

You are correct on the method of converting cm to sq cm. For an area that is 8x9 cm you would multiply those numbers together to calculate the total area in terms of square centimeters for a total of 72 sq cm.

For the coding, once you exceed 30 sq cm of area for adjacent tissue transfer, you would actually go to codes 14301 and 14302. CPT 14301 is for adjacent tissue transfer in "any area" (any anatomic site) for 30.1 sq cm to 60 sq cm and 14302 is reported for each additional 30 sq cm or part thereof. So in your example with the 72 sq cm I would report 14301 x1 for the first 60 sq cm and 14302x1 for the remaining 12 sq cm.

I hope that helps :)

Have a good day
