When Mesna is administered I know it is not a chemotherapeutic agent but it does have a J9209 HCPCS code and is listed in the HCPCS book under chemotherapy drugs. So will the administration codes be Chemotherapy Adminstration codes or Therapeutic Administration Codes?

I was taught the rule that if it has a chemo J code, use chemo infusion codes, if not, use regular infusion codes...

The Oncology practice I code for has only used Mesna once or twice, but I have reported it as a chemo infusion, and haven't heard from AR that there were any problems with collections.
