We had a patient in the office for a well check. The doctor sent them to the hospital to be admitted (We occasionally have this instance where the doc has to call the ER to admit them from the office). Can I bill 99221-99223 since we sent them to the hospital but didn't actually see them until the following day in the hospital? I know if I cant bill a preventative and admit code together. Per the hospital papers it states admitted from ED.

if your admitting physician did not see the patient at the hospital until the next day he/she could bill the appropriate office E/M visit for the date of admission and the initial inpatient visit in the hospital the following day.
