We are a CAH and currently our billers are telling us that we should no longer have admitting diagnosis on any type of outpatient claim just inpatient. We have always had admitting diagnosis on ER's and OBS stays. They told us that this went into effect with 5010 has anyone else had issues with admitting diagnosis or knows more on this subject we really can't find anything to support thier claim either way. The last facility I worked at used admitting diagnosis on everything that was coded so I'm not sure as to what the differences would be. Any advice would be appreciated.
